Why I Draw By training, I’m a graphic designer; but, I’m also a fine artist, poet & wandering soul. My en-plein-air paintings are immediate and spontaneous, a response to light & a moment in time. They capture impressions — the spirit of the place. Working this way forces me to be still, to experience place in a way that I can’t when I’m just walking through. They’re my visual travel souvenirs. I Love the Weather In bad weather speed is essential, good weather lets me be more contemplative. I often go back to the same place in different seasons, weather & times of day. I love being out in crazy weather. It must be because my Dad was a weatherman... I often end up liking the quickest sketches... drawn in the wildest conditions, the best. Cane Mutiny: A Breath of the Mountains This year I'll be joined by "Cane Mutiny" a friend who makes Adirondack style leather wallets, pouches + walking sticks. You can see images from "Cane Mutiny" by clicking on Additional Images: 2, 3 or 4 located above, just below the map.
