I have a recurring dream that I witness something beautiful, something that seems to suspend the rules of nature, and I retrieve my camera just in time to take the most unbelievable photograph. When I wake up, I immediately visually retell myself the dream as an attempt to capture the false event that I apparently had not photographed after all.

In reality, I do carry a digital camera with me at all times, and I am on alert for those moments of which I dream. As a result I have accumulated a large catalog of images on my computer. When I do not find the photographic image in itself to sufficiently convey these moments of beauty, when I find the setting to be too distracting, or when I see potential for an even more dramatic and more nearly impossible scenario to have taken place, then I use drawing as my tool to fabricate this imagined event on paper. I am drawn to the ephemeral and allusive qualities of events in nature as well as calm moments in social interactions.
