For SOS 2019 we've decided to try a new model for how SOS will be planned and run, one which we hope will re-invigorate the community of artists and art supporters that is essential to, and perhaps also the main benefit of, SOS. Going back to the roots of SOS, we're eliminating the single-person coordinator role in favor of a more organic model. Instead, we will foster individual groups of artists focusing specific tasks and goals. Periodic year-round meetings will the bring groups together and a timeline manager will keep us on track.
While we are identifying several specific initiatives, we need your ideas and your excitement to realize what could be. The important part is taking the initiative, and acting on our collective desire to make this event truly one of a kind. Very few cities have the density of artists that Somerville does. What can we do working together?
As an organization that is above all else about bringing artists together and building community, we need your help, insight and, most importantly, your enthusiasm to forge the future of SOS. What do you want SOS 2019 to be? What would you like to improve? Do you have a plan so transformative that we need to be thinking about SOS 2020!?
Get interested. Do more. Achieve much. Come to us individually or as a team. Check out some core initiatives or email us your thoughts at email@example.com. And save the date for the inaugural organizational meeting for on Wednesday July 25, 6:30 to 8:30 at the Somerville Museum, 1 Westwood Road, Somerville.
Notes from the SOS 2018 Wrap-up Meeting, which was held on May 17, are now online.
