Artist's Statement

Courtney Chelo works in Boston as a public health policy advocate by day and makes art in their home studio in Somerville by night. They combine traditional collage, image transfers, block printing, and embroidery with their many obsessions: old books, paper planes, vintage photographs, origami cranes, maps, wood, bones, birds, anatomy, and more to explore the line between the whimsical and bittersweet.
