XOKO wears a crown because she is the ruler of herself in a kingdom of her making. she has no subjects but she is also nobody else s. her face is unchanging like that of a mask. she struggles with the concept of self-control in the face of adversity. who should she be true to first, herself in that moment or does she present another face to others? how to stay authentic without offending? how to maintain individuality in the context of a group? she loves to retreat into her turtle shell to rest and reflect but she also loves to flit around like a butterfly basking in the attention of people. there are two sides to her. she s a contradiction. a mirror and reflection. opposite forces ebbing and flowing in a constant dance.
