Sustainable fashion & textiles
I am a textile artist, fashion designer, and tailor with a focus on sustainability. I believe that what we wear tells a story - identity, history, values. My work aims to explore and amplify these stories through the utilization of sustainable materials and handcraft processes. I hold a BFA in Fibers and a Certificate in Fashion Design from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. In January 2020, I was one of eight designers from the Northeast selected to participate in a sustainable fashion design competition called Project Upcycle, which took place virtually in October and November later that year. The gala look I created entirely from reworked second-hand clothing was awarded second place. My practice has also included coordinating and participating in sustainability-focused clothing repair pop up events, and co-designing an installation made from upcycled fabrics for exhibition at a local independent music festival.
